Healthcare professionals recommend that you visit the dentist twice a year for a check-up and to have your teeth cleaned.
However, there are also times you may need to visit the dentist quite urgently for an emergency. We strongly advise that
you make a dental appointment as soon as possible if you are suffering from any of the following symptoms:

• Chronic and painful toothache
• Ongoing and unexplained jaw pain
• Consistently bleeding gums
• A loose or chipped tooth

What sort of procedures can a dentist perform?

A dentist operating from the Momentum Health4Me Dental Network can perform a number of different procedures
that will alleviate your discomfort or treat your dental problem. The most common could include:

• Having a filling. This is where the dentist uses restorative materials to repair damaged teeth. A filling helps prevent further decay.
• Extractions. A dentist can remove a rotten or damaged tooth or teeth that could be causing your toothache. A compromised tooth should be removed in order to prevent further infection.
• Teeth cleaning. The dentist performs routine teeth cleaning in order to remove the build-up of plaque and tartar, which is the substance that causes cavities and can cause gum disease.

Health4Me Dentistry Benefits

Dentistry Benefits are available for the Momentum Health4Me Gold and Silver plans. These health insurance plan members may visit
any dentist from the Momentum Health4Me Network Dentist List. The benefit includes basic dentistry procedures, which includes:

• Fillings
• Extractions
• Infection control
• Cleaning and polishing

Specialised dentistry procedures, like bridges, crowns, implants, root canals or dentures are not covered by this benefit.
Cosmetic procedures, like teeth whitening, are also not covered. Members are advised to note that a three-month
waiting period does apply for this benefit.
